The Peace Movement supports the struggles of Okinawans against the US military bases on Okinawa

The French Peace Movement supports the people living on the island of Okinawa but also all the pacifists and peace-loving people who are fighting for the closure of the American bases on Okinawa.

Generally speaking, the Peace Movement is in favor of the end of foreign bases in the world, including the closure of French bases abroad.

The maintenance of the US bases in Okinawa is contrary to the economic interest of the Okinawan population and more widely the Japanese population. These bases constitute a serious cause of ecological deterioration, they constitute an ecological crime, they participate in an unacceptable militarization of the world and in particular in the will of the United States and NATO to militarize the Euro-Pacific zone.

Whatever problems exist in this area must be negotiated with Peace as the objective.

In a dangerous international situation where peace is seriously threatened, we the peoples must all unite for peace and the demilitarization of international relations. All peoples and all humanity have no other path than Peace for their future, with immediate objectives such as the reduction of military spending, the total elimination of nuclear weapons, the demilitarization of international relations and the increase of spending for human security based on the satisfaction of human needs in its social, economic and ecological components.

The struggles led by our Japanese friends (pacifists, feminists, ecologists) for the closure of the American bases in Okinawa are part of the universal struggle for peace.

We are at your side.
