Acting for a just and durable peace in Israel and Palestine

This peace means for the Palestinian people the acknowledgment of the right to fully exercise their sovereignty in a viable state, on the basis of the UN's resolution, that is to say in the territories of Cisjordany and the Gaza Strip with East Jerusalem as capital city.

Violent colonisation in the occupied territories, humiliation and repression, the construction of an Annexation Wall of a part of Cisjordany and of a part of Jerusalem run counter to no political solution for both peoples. And the same goes for the detention by Israel of 7500 political prisoners, often subjected to treatments that do not respect the 4 th Geneva Convention. Among these, important persons such as the deputy Mr Marwan Barghouti, but also hundreds of children illegally detained, therefore violating the provisions and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

In order to enable a real peace process, the demands of the national Palestinian movement should be met. Among these, the liberation of political prisoners.

The European governments and the French one have a duty to act in this respect.

In view of this, on Monday 18 April a delegation of Mouvement de la Paix is meeting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Political Prisoners called on by the Palestinian NGOs.
